The Coalition Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Circles of San Antonio Community Coalition and facilitating implementation of the Strategic Prevention Framework – Partnerships for Success (SPF-PFS) grant.
The coordinator engages community partners, builds coalition capacity, uses data to identify prevention priorities, and supports the planning, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based and community-level strategies to prevent substance misuse and related behavioral health concerns.
The position works closely with coalition members, SACADA staff, community partners, and the contracted evaluator to ensure activities are responsive to community needs and consistent with grant goals and requirements.

GRANT FUNDED THROUGH: September 29, 2028
- Coordinate and facilitate monthly Circles of San Antonio Community Coalition meetings, including agendas, meeting materials, minutes, attendance, and follow-up activities.
- Recruit, engage, and retain coalition members and strengthen participation across community sectors.
- Facilitate coalition activities using the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF): assessment, capacity building, planning, implementation, and evaluation, with sustainability and cultural responsiveness incorporated throughout the process.
- Develop and maintain productive partnerships with schools, community organizations, governmental entities, behavioral health partners, law enforcement, youth-serving organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Work with coalition members, SACADA leadership, and the contracted evaluator to review community data, identify priorities, measure progress, and adjust prevention strategies.
- Coordinate implementation of evidence-based and community-level prevention strategies addressing substance misuse and associated risk and protective factors.
- Conduct or coordinate community assessments and environmental scans related to substance availability, product, price, placement, promotion, and emerging trends.
- Provide prevention education, presentations, and community awareness activities that support coalition and grant objectives.
- Support medication disposal, responsible medication practices, and other community prevention initiatives as appropriate to the grant work plan.
- Coordinate with SACADA coalitions and community partners on shared prevention priorities and opportunities for collaboration.
- Participate in relevant community coalitions, workgroups, trainings, staff meetings, and professional development activities.
- Support media, public awareness, and community education activities related to coalition priorities.
- Monitor legislation, policies, local conditions, and emerging trends that may affect substance misuse prevention and coalition strategies.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of coalition activities, partnerships, participation, outcomes, and required grant data in designated tracking and reporting systems.
- Assist with grant reports, evaluation activities, sustainability planning, and documentation required by SACADA and the funder.
- Perform other duties related to coalition development and SPF-PFS grant implementation as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in education, public health, behavioral health, social/human services, or a related field preferred. Relevant education and experience may be considered.
- Experience with community coalitions, community engagement, prevention, public health, behavioral health, or volunteer coordination preferred.
- Knowledge of community-level change, substance misuse prevention, and risk and protective factors preferred.
- Ability to facilitate meetings, build partnerships, recruit and engage community members, and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining collaborative relationships with coalition members, partners, supervisors, and staff.
- Proficiency with standard computer applications, virtual meeting platforms, data/documentation systems, and social media.
- Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) certification required within 18 months of employment.

- Reliable transportation and ability to travel locally for coalition and community activities.
- Ability to attend occasional evening and weekend meetings, events, and trainings.
- Ability to travel out of town for required conferences, meetings, and professional development.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Maintain required certifications and complete annual training requirements throughout employment.
In addition to the above, the Coalition Coordinator shall demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and goals of the San Antonio Council on Alcohol and Drug Awareness and a level of energy commensurate with the Council’s expectations.
HOURS: Full-time
TRAVEL: Local travel is required weekly, about 15-25% of the time (mileage reimbursed)
OUT OF TOWN TRAVEL: 10-20% for conferences, or occasional meetings within the state.
