Project Heart

Project Heart is both a program and a curriculum that was developed in-house at the San Antonio Council on Alcohol and Drug Awareness. This is a Selective program, meaning the children who are recommended for this program are at a higher-than-average risk for drug use.

There are many factors that may play into why the child is at higher risk: parents are in recovery for drug use, death of a parent or caretaker because of drug use, parents incarcerated, unstable home environment, disciplinary problems at home or school, or parents going through divorce with no healthy adults to support and mentor children while going through this process.

The program is 10 sessions long, 45 minutes per session, and can be taught in Spanish.
