DESCRIPTION:Adult Mental Health First Aid – Taught Virtually via Zoom.  Space is limited to the 10 participants. \nRegister here: https://instructors.mentalhealthfirstaid.org/course-details/285813 \nWhat is Mental Health First Aid? \nMental Health First Aid for Adults teaches people how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older\, how to offer and provide initial help\, and how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary. The training is intended to establish a referral mechanism that increase the ability of the individuals trained in mental health first aid awareness to refer and link the population of focus to mental health resources and services and report back to the Region 8 training instructor of completed trainings. \nWho is eligible for this free training? \nThis free training is focused training law enforcement\, first responders\, school personnel and the community at large. Individuals seeking to enroll in this blended adult mental health first aid training need to reside in Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) Region 8\, which consist of the following counties: Atascosa County\, Bandera County\, Bexar County\, Calhoun County\, Comal County\, De Witt County\, Dimmit County\, Edwards County\, Frio County\, Gillespie County\, Goliad County\, Gonzales County\, Guadalupe County\, Jackson County\, Karnes County\, Kendall County\, Kerr County\, Kinney County\, La Salle County\, Lavaca County\, Maverick County\, Medina County\, Real County\, Uvalde County\, Val Verde County\, Victoria County\, Wilson County\, and Zavala County. \nThere is 2 hours of pre-course work that must be completed before the start of class on January 27th. \nFor more information\, contact Marcus Kavanaugh at mkavanaugh@sacada.org or (210) 225-4741.
