The Role of Nutrition on the Road to Recovery
Presenter: Alexis Lawrence, Nutrition Education Coordinator, San Antonio Food Bank

There are many factors that can affect an individual’s success in recovery, not the least of which is personal wellness and nutrition, although it is often neglected. In this training, we will explore the different roles that nutrition takes part in before, during, and after recovery from substance abuse.

Speaker Bio: My name is Alexis Lawrence and I am a Nutrition Education Coordinator at the San Antonio Food Bank. I started my work in nutrition health and wellness at the Army Wellness Center (AWC) as a Health Educator after completing an internship at the San Antonio Council for Alcohol and Drug Abuse. At the AWC I was able to serve the military population in all aspects of wellness education and fitness testing. Though the learning there was great I was feeling led back into the non-profit community education setting. With the food bank I have been able to teach all spectrums of life, from pre-school to senior populations and everything in between. I am looking forward to presenting this information and hope it is helpful to your work!
