DWI Education Class (1st Offense)

Attention – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure the safety of the participants of our classes, the San Antonio Council on Alcohol and Drug Awareness has moved its DWI Education Course to the virtual classroom via Zoom.

Registration needs to be completed by Friday by 12:oo pm. Anyone registering after 12:00pm on Friday before class will be moved to the following month’s class. Classes resume online via Zoom until further notice. For more information, contact Gyna Juarez at Gjuarez@sacada.org.

The DWI Education Course open to individuals 18 years and older and may be mandated education for  those who have received a 1st time Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) citation or other intoxication citation. SACADA is a certified provider of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) to DWI Education Course. This course is valid for anyone who received a DWI Citation or other intoxication citation in the state of Texas.

SACADA holds the DWI Education Course the first Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the month unless there is a holiday, which is then moved to the second weekend. This course is 12 hours and is taught in 4 hr. increments over a 3-day span. Students must attend all 3 classes to receive their Certificate of Completion for the Course.

Class times are from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm on Friday and 9:00 am – 1:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. For individuals attending our Victim Impact Panel, class starts at 12pm.  All sales are final with purchase of class.

Do I need the Victim Impact Panel (VIP) Video Version

A Victim Impact Panel is a panel of individuals who have been affected by the actions of a drunk driver. The overall goal of the Victim Impact Panel is to help convey the impact an intoxicated driver. Our version is hosted by our DWI Instructor and complemented with an education video and discussion.

What is a SASSI?

The SASSI stands for Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory and is a questionnaire that helps to identify if a person has a high probability or low probability of having a substance use disorder. This questionnaire is completed online and a report is reviewed by our Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) and ready in 1-2 business days.

Certified Court-Approved

We are a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Certified Provider of the DWI Education Course.
