Empowering our community to live healthy lives; by providing prevention, intervention, and recovery services for children and adults.
A safe and thriving community.
In 1957, a small group of prominent citizens formed The San Antonio Council to educate the community about the disease of alcoholism and to assist alcoholics and their families in finding appropriate resources.
Sixty years later, we have expanded SACADA’s prevention and intervention strategies to strengthen families. We are still actively educating communities to prevent the use, abuse and addiction to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs that negatively impact health and lives.
SACADA continues to be an innovative leader in preventing and solving problems associated with substance abuse.
The San Antonio Council on Alcohol and Drug Awareness (SACADA) is a nonprofit organization that provides education, youth prevention programs, information resources and services to prevent alcohol and drug abuse. We serve nearly 60,000 people in Bexar County and 28 surrounding counties in South Central Texas.
We appreciate your First Friday workshops for prevention professionals. The discussion is always helpful, the instructors are top-notch and I always come away with great, practical ideas I can put to use.
My daughter attended a graduation party where alcohol was served and was issued a citation. After looking at all the alternatives, we chose SACADA for her MIP class because of its experienced staff and central, convenient location off Loop 410. Thanks for making it easy!
