The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) reports to the Chief Executive Officer
(CEO) and is responsible for managing the financial operations of the organization and ensuring the organization’s financial health and sustainability. The CFO also seeks ways to continuously improve the investment and finance program to align with organizational values and to expand opportunities for greater community investment into our mission. In partnership with the Leadership Team, including the Director of Programs, the CFO strives to identify, establish, and maintain funds, and to provide other resources to meet financial goals and ensure proper recording and auditing of community investment strategies that advance SACADA’s strategic goals.
Financial Management
• Creates and implements financial strategies that support the organization’s
mission and support organizational growth, financial stability, and community
impact goals.
• Develops a strong working relationship with the CEO and the Finance
Committee.
• As a member of the Leadership Team, develops, presents, and secures Board
approval for strategic organizational initiatives.
• Manages and oversees all financial operations, including accounting,
budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and short term and long-term
compliance requirements.
• Ensures the accuracy and completeness of financial records, including the
general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and other financial
systems
• Works with the Audit Committee to ensure compliance with all applicable
financial, accounting, legal, tax filings and regulatory requirements and best
practice standards ensuring a system of strong internal controls
• Prepares and presents financial reports to the CEO and Board of Directors,
providing analysis and recommendations as needed.
• Manage relationships with external partners, including banks, auditors, and
other financial service providers.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Develops and oversees the annual budgeting process, working closely with
program managers and other stakeholders to develop realistic and achievable
budgets
• Monitors actual performance against budget and provides regular updates and
analysis to the Executive Director and Board of Directors
• Develops and maintains financial forecasting models that support long-term
financial planning and decision-making.
Strategic Planning and Leadership
Works collaboratively with the CEO and senior leaders to develop and
implement strategic plans, policies, procedures, and goals that support the
organization’s mission, vision, values and goals
• Supports the Finance Committee, collaborating with committee members to
provide strategic financial guidance including regular updates on budget
performance, forecasts, and financial risks and opportunities.
• Provides leadership and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a culture of
continuous improvement and professional development.
• Collaborates with other senior leaders to develop and implement strategies
that support the organization’s mission and goals.
• Represents the organization at internal and external events and meetings,
providing financial guidance and support as needed.
Tax Filing and Compliance
• Oversee all tax filings and requirements, ensuring that the organization follows all relevant laws and regulations.
• Manage relationships with external auditors and other financial service
providers to ensure compliance with all reporting and regulatory requirements.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or CPA
strongly preferred.
• At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial
management, with at least 5 years with a nonprofit organization.
• Proven track record of successful financial management, including experience
developing and implementing financial strategies, managing budgets, and
overseeing financial reporting and compliance.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with experience building and
leading high-performing teams.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate
financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Passion for the mission and work of the organization.
• Passionate interest in mentoring others and working as a team.
• Risk aware but not risk averse.
