It is a great honor and privilege to serve as the new Executive Director for the San Antonio Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. I passionately believe in the great work this organization has provided our community for over 53 years, and I’m excited about the new opportunities we have in bringing hope and healing thru prevention and intervention services.
We know that substance abuse is one of the leading problems that impacts San Antonio. It is a significant factor in broken homes, domestic violence, child abuse, health problems, soaring medical costs, crime, DWI fatalities, unplanned pregnancies, school performance problems, truancy, high dropout rates, loss of productivity and many workplace issues. Its effects reach far beyond the user- to family, friends, the workplace, and the entire community.
I believe that collaboration with other organization and agencies is crucial in preventing substance abuse and addiction. I look forward to working with many partners to make our community safe and healthier. By utilizing community assessments and implementing evidence based strategies we will be able to monitor our success and be strategic in all the work we do.
I’m extremely grateful to our Board of Directors, Staff and Community Partners who believe and support my commitment to the San Antonio Council on Alcohol and Drug abuse and our community in reducing the impact of substance abuse and addiction.
